Tupelo man arrested after shooting death

Tupelo Police and the United States Marshals Service Task Force have made an arrest in the shooting that led to the death of a man at Hilldale Apartments (320 Monument Drive) on Monday night according to a press release from Tupelo Police.

22 year old Makaiyah Tavion Woods of Tupelo was arrested on 7-31-24.

A shooting at those apartments was reported about 10:30 p.m. on 7-29-24 at the Hilldale Apartments in Tupelo. Police were dispatched to the apartments for a report of gunshots and also to the North Mississippi Medical Center for an adult male gunshot victim.

Witnesses said they were outside when they heard gunshots and saw the victim lying on the ground. He was taken to the hospital by private vehicle where he was pronounced dead.
