USA Gymnastics' Comment on Simone Biles' Instagram Post Is Turning Heads
By Emily Bicks,

Simone Biles, Jade Carey, Jordan Chiles, Suni Lee, and Hezly Rivera, became the fourth women's national team in history to win gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics. With an overall 171.296 score, no other county even came close to defeating Team USA.
After the medal ceremony, Biles celebrated Team USA's road to redemption by throwing some not-so-subtle shade at MyKayla Skinner, whose highly-critical comments about her teammates went viral during the U.S. Olympic Gymnastics Trials last month.
Skinner, who won an individual silver medal on vault at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, claimed Biles' teammates lacked the work ethic needed to be great and blamed SafeSport for limiting how "aggressive" coaches can be these days.
Biles captioned her Instagram post on July 30, "lack of talent, lazy, olympic champions ❤️🥇🇺🇸." Biles' post drew over three million likes and the comments section blew up with current and former gymnasts applauding the caption. McKayla Maroney posted, "It doesn’t get more iconic than this.. She f’d around n found out fr. Feels like I need to apologize just to redeem my first name."
Lee commented, "Put a finger down if simone biles just ended you 🖐🏼," while Chiles wrote, "and that’s on periodt!!."
As for USA Gymnastics, the national governing body of the sport in America, their official Instagram account commented by writing, "🤭🤭🤭," which immediately raised some eyebrows. One fan posted on X, "I dont go here but if my sport’s federation joined in on dragging me i’d move to the wilderness and forgo all forms of communication." Another person wrote , "Not us gym entering the convo with the 🤭. 😬 lol."
USA Gymnastics also reposted Biles' Instagram post on their Instagram Stories.

While Skinner posted a lengthy apology letter for her controversial comments, it seems few of her peers are ready to make amends.
During the 27-year-old's live stream, Skinner mispronounced Rivera's name and said she wished she'd made a comeback after three top gymnasts suffered heartbreaking injuries at the U.S Trials that forced them to withdraw from competition.
"Not saying anything to the girls that got injured, but if I could come back, I think I would be able to do it. And I think I probably could've made that Olympic team," Skinner said.
