Katie Ledecky can’t stop winning gold medals in the Olympics. She already has eight in her collection after destroying the competition in the 1,500-meter freestyle event at the Summer Games in Paris on Wednesday.

She can add more to her gold medal tally as she is expected to compete in more swimming events in Paris. Not only that, but Ledecky is also aiming to continue her decorated Olympic career in 2028 when Los Angeles is scheduled to host the quadrennial games.

"I've been consistent over these last few months and last few years in saying that I would love to compete in L.A. and that hasn't changed," Ledecky said, via ESPN .

"That could change. I mean, you never know. So, I really just take it year by year at this point and I really haven't thought much beyond this week in terms of what my fall is going to look like, what my next year is going to look like. But yeah, I don't feel like I'm close to being finished in the sport yet."

With her eighth Olympic gold, Ledecky joined an extremely exclusive club of athletes with at least 12 overall medals. That group features swimmers Jenny Thompson, Dara Torres and Natalie Coughlin.

Ledecky needs one more gold to break the record for most gold medals secured by an American woman in the Olympics.

That is going to be easier said than done, but it’s also tough to bet against the 27-year-old Ledecky, who will be competing in the 800-meter freestyle and 4 x 200 freestyle relay in Paris.
