Manchester United are closing in on a potential loan deal for Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte, with an obligation to buy included.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, PSG are willing to let the Uruguayan midfielder leave on loan, provided the deal includes a significant buy option.

This move could be a game-changer for United as they gear up for the 2024/25 Premier League season.

Manuel Ugarte: The missing piece in United's midfield?

United's interest in Ugarte comes as they seek to bolster their midfield options. With Casemiro's form dipping last season and uncertainty surrounding his future, United are keen to strengthen their defensive midfield.

Ugarte, a 22-cap Uruguay international, fits the bill perfectly with his robust playing style and defensive acumen.

Romano revealed that Ugarte is eager to make the move to Old Trafford and has already agreed to personal terms. "Ugarte wants to go to Manchester United," Romano mentioned in a recent video update.

The only hurdle left is for the clubs to finalize the agreement, which could then see Ugarte donning the Red Devils' jersey soon.

While PSG are currently not keen on a loan with a buy option, the situation remains fluid, and a resolution could be reached shortly.

This potential transfer would not only address a key area of need for United but also add a dynamic young talent to their squad, making them a team to watch in the upcoming season.
