New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers poured cool water on a reunion with Davante Adams in 2024 - but refused to rule out teaming up again at the 2028 Olympics.

Four-time NFL MVP Rodgers, 40, and wide receiver Adams spent eight seasons together at the Green Bay Packers . Adams, 31, set out for the Las Vegas Raiders in the 2022 campaign, but the team's struggles have left him frustrated.

Rodgers fueled trade rumors of a reunion with Adams during the American Century Championship golf tournament in Lake Tahoe earlier this month. "I love Davante. I can’t wait to play with him . . . again," Rodgers said before Adams' agents had to run clean-up.

Rodgers has since teased again, this time during an appearance on Up & Adams on Wednesday, but at the 2028 Olympics for Flag Football, should Team USA lean on veterans for the debuting event. "I'd love to play with Davante again," Rodgers said.

"It might be in the 2028 Olympics if they let some of the old guys go out and play. But we'll see. I mean I want him to have great success. And I love him."

Rodgers would be 44 by the time the Los Angeles Olympics comes around. That would be a further three NFL seasons following his season-ending Achilles tear on his Jets debut in the 2023 campaign. Rodgers' trade to the New York franchise brought optimism of a playoff run - potentially its first since 2010.

However, Zach Wilson, the second overall pick from the 2021 NFL Draft and now at the Denver Broncos, failed to adequately step up in Rodgers' absence as the Jets limped to another losing season. Rodgers is back in training camp but it's been far from plain sailing for the one-time Super Bowl winner.

Rodgers and Garrett Wilson were seen having an animated conversation during training. The vet has insisted his relationship with the franchise's No. 1 receiver is fine despite the visible frustrations.

"He's got to get on my page, but I have to get on his page, too, because he's got a whole book that I need to understand fully -- skill set and ability and feel and rhythm and all the different things that he does out there," Rodgers said after practice. "So those are good conversations. They might appear to be much more heated than they are, but there's usually a smile on our face afterwards -- at least one of us."

"It's truly enlightening for me every time we have problems like that, despite how it may look, just because I am an emotional, passionate guy," Wilson said. "So, when we lose, I might look a certain way, but in reality, all those conversations, those things are helping me be better for Aaron because he can make your life real easy. So, for me, it's my job to be on my details and he's been on me about those details."
