Playing with your dog is a great way to strengthen your bond. It doesn't matter if it's fetch or tug-of-war, as long as it connect the two of you. For a Golden Retriever named Benny, a nightly game of hide-and-seek is the best part of the day.

In a July 31, 2024 TikTok video posted by Benny the Golden ( @bennythegoldennn ), Benny's attention to detail is caught on camera as he seeks while Mom hides and it's a real riot. Watch them below!

"Every night we play hide-and-seek with our Golden Retriever," the video begins. "I hide in multiple spots and wait. This is how it goes."

The 1-minute clip shows Benny as he investigates all the places Mom could hide. With his nose turned up to catch her scent and his ears open wide, he searches high and low until he spots her. Through multiple hiding places, Benny and Mom play the game. He even takes his stuffie along for moral support which makes this an even cuter scene.

However long it took him to find Mom each time, Benny's methods have the internet fully entertained.

"Carrying the snuggle pup for assistance had me," one person said. "What a Fun moment with Benny," another wrote. "You are too noisy, so not on my team, lol. So cute," another added.

The people have spoken. Make this pup an honorary detective for his solid investigative skills!

The Benefits of Playing with Your Dog

Including regular play time in your dog's day isn't only for fun. The Animal Hospital of Clemmons explains there are many benefits of playing with your dog .

Obviously, exercise is the biggest reason, because dogs need a way to get out all of their excess energy to behave better and sleep well. When they're worn out from daily exercise, they won't have the energy to do "bad" things. Also, their naps and nighttime sleep will be much deeper, leading to a refreshed pup in the morning.

And while bonding with their humans is great for both of you, the mental stimulation they get from play helps strengthen their brains.

When the whole family (including children) make time to play inside or outside the home, your dog learns socialization which is critical in how they respond to other people and dogs.

Needless to say, a nightly game of hide-and-seek may be the perfect answer for your dog. Like Benny, they'll come to look forward to it because it means more dedicated time with you.
