“Such Good Energy, He’s Just Positive” — Luke Combs Talks About The Writing Process & Working With Post Malone

Post Malone
A powerhouse pair.
Post Malone is gearing up to release his country album F-1 Trillion, which features a star-studded lineup of collaborators like legends Dolly Parton, Hank Williams Jr. and Tim McGraw, as well as current stars like Billy Strings and Lainey Wilson.
And of course, we already knew Morgan Wallen, Blake Shelton and Luke Combs and would be on the record, because their songs have already been released, but we didn’t know that Luke actually has two features on F-1 Trillion.
They already put out the collab “Guy For That,” but there’s another one coming called “Missin’ You Like This,” and in a recent interview with Audacy’s Katie & Company, Luke spoke about what it was like to work with Posty, starting at the very beginning with the writing.
He says they’ve written a lot together this year, and said it pushed him to write a little bit differently than he normally would considering the nature of the special project and who Malone is as an artist:
“We’ve written a bunch together this year — probably close to five or six different times. It was fun. It was stepping outside of stuff that I wouldn’t normally write, but also bringing my little bit of knowledge into his thing.
It was really cool because the way those guys write and produce and create stuff is so different from the way I do it and it was just really cool to get to be around that stuff and experience it. It was really a lot of fun.”
Combs added that Posty just “loves music” of all kind, echoing the sentiments of so many who love him saying he is “the sweetest dude”:
“He’s such a music fan, he just loves music — all kinds of music. He loves making music, he has such good energy, he’s just positive — at least from my experience. He’s just the sweetest dude.”
Their song “Guy For That” is definitely not groundbreaking by any means, and is pretty straightforward pop country, but it’s super catchy and fun for the summer and I’m excited to hear “Missin’ You Like This” because the title is intriguing and sounds like the perfect title for a country song.

Post Malone’s Official ‘F-1 Trillion’ Tracklist Revealed
The official tracklist.
Last Friday, Target (accidentally) leaked the extensive list of features for Post Malone’s forthcoming country album F-1 Trillion, which showed the extensive list of features on the back of the vinyl listing on their website.
It was quickly removed, but not before fans took screenshots and saw impressive names of legends like Dolly Parton, Hank Williams Jr. and Tim McGraw, as well as current stars like Billy Strings and Lainey Wilson.
Shared by a fan account on Instagram earlier, all of the aforementioned artists will be included, and now we know exactly which songs they’ll be singing on. In total, there are 18 songs and 15 artists featured.
“I Had Some Help” with Morgan Wallen is a multi-week #1 on both the country charts, as well as Billboard Hot 100. He also released “Pour Me A Drink” with Blake Shelton, and teased some of the other songs and features at a recent Nashville concert.
The album is due out everywhere on August 16th, and clearly includes a wide range of incredible artists from both mainstream country and otherwise.
It’s shaping up to be a really exciting release, and I can’t wait to hear what he’s cooked up with Dolly, Hank Jr., and especially Sierra because she’s featured on one called “Never Love You Again” that I already LOVE:
