Trump Shares Laura Loomer Post Falsely Claiming Kamala Harris Isn’t Black

Former President Donald Trump continued on Thursday to pretend not to know that Vice President Kamala Harris is biracial.

In a wild appearance in front of the National Association of Black Journalists the day before, Trump claimed, “I didn’t know she was Black until a number of years ago when she happened to turn Black.”

He later asked, “So, I don’t know. Is she Indian or is she Black?”

Harris was born in Oakland, California to a Jamaican father and an Indian mother.

The former president shared a post from conspiracy theorist Laura Loomer on his Truth Social platform in which she falsely claimed Harris “is NOT black and never has been.”

She posted a copy of Harris’s purported birth certificate, which lists her father’s “color or race” as Jamaican. Her mother is listed as Caucasian.

“Donald Trump is correct,” Loomer wrote. “Kamala Harris is NOT black and never has been.”

Trump shared the post, as well as another Loomer post containing a CNN segment focusing on Harris’s Indian heritage. The conspiracy-monger interpreted this to mean that the vice president cannot be Black.

“Not only does Kamala Harris’s own birth certificate prove that she is LYING about being black, but CNN even once did a whole video interview about how Kamala is INDIAN,” she wrote. “Not black!”

Harris is the presumptive Democratic nominee after President Joe Biden ended his reelection bid last month. Much of Trump’s campaign centered on the president’s advanced age and his cognitive state. The ascension of Harris negates this line of attack, and so Trump has chosen to falsely call into question his opponent’s racial identity as a winning strategy.
