Leon Marchand took the 2024 Summer Olympics by storm on Wednesday when he won gold medals in both the 200-meter butterfly and 200-meter breaststroke in a span of just two hours.

Marchand is beloved by French fans, and he's received quite a bit of support from folks in the swimming community, including legendary American swimmer Michael Phelps.

A video of Phelps celebrating Marchand's latest achievements went viral on social media shortly after the Frenchman pulled off this crazy feat. WNBA fans were quick to note how Phelps was supportive of Marchand, which is a contrast from how Caitlin Clark has been treated in her first year in the league.

As a rookie, Clark has taken the WNBA by storm, and she has already broken several records in just her first 26 games of action with the Indiana Fever.

However, she hasn't exactly been received with open arms by some of her peers in the WNBA for her accomplishments. When looking at how Phelps reacted to Marchand as he establishes himself as the world's new best male swimmer, it was pretty eye-opening for fans to see.

So when the WNBA returns to action later in August, it will be interesting to see if folks across the league are more receptive to Clark and her star performances for the Fever.
