The Los Angeles Angels are having a tough season without Shohei Ohtani. Mike Trout is still on the team, but the Angels long-time superstar has been dealing with injuries this season.

On Thursday, Angels general manager Perry Minasian revealed that Mike Trout will miss the rest of the 2024 season due to a meniscus tear, per MLB reporter Brent Maguire.

"Mike Trout will miss the rest of the season, according to Angels general manager Perry Minasian," Maguire wrote on X. "Another MRI showed a tear in the same knee that was surgically repaired earlier this year for a torn meniscus."

It's a brutal turn of events, and Trout took to X to post a lengthy statement.

"Since my initial surgery on May 3rd to repair my meniscus, my rehabilitation proved longer and more difficult than anticipated," Trout wrote. "After months of hard work, I was devastated yesterday when an MRI showed a tear in my meniscus that will require surgery again - ending my hopes of returning this season...This is equally as heartbreaking and frustrating for me as it is for you."

Trout hasn't played since April 29. He played in only 29 games this year and 82 in 2023, so the injury issues continue for the superstar outfielder. In 2024, he hit just .220 with 10 home runs and 14 RBI before suffering the injury.

Yet, once again, Trout will be on the road to recovery, and Angels fans and baseball fans are hoping he can return to his All-Star form.
