Khalil Shakir Could Be The WR1 For Josh Allen

After being drafted in the 5th round of the 2022 draft and having a quiet rookie season, Khalil Shakir emerged as a secret weapon for the Buffalo Bills in the 2023 season. Interim OC Joe Brady took over halfway through the season and began working Shakir into new plays, which helped the WR3 finish with 611 receiving yards and two TDs. He's only been a WR1 twice in his two-season career.

Shakir passed the eye test last year at times, and it was a matter of volume and the depth chart in front of him that he hadn't gotten a chance to show he is a very skilled football player. He scored big-time touchdowns in both the Bills playoff games and showed out in the last game of the season against Miami.

Following the offseason departures of Stefon Diggs and Gave Davis, Buffalo filled the void in the WR room with the additions of rookie Keon Coleman and numerous free agents, including Curtis Samuel.

This, in turn, leads to the expectation that Shakir will be WR1 due to his experience in the Bills’ new offensive scheme and rapport with Josh Allen. With the expectation that the 2024 season will be a breakout season with the potential of his first 1000-yard season, Shakir’s current ADP is 10.06 and WR48 off the board.

Our consensus projections for Shakir in the 2024 season would be: 61 receptions,  855 yards, 4 touchdowns.
