This Anti-Boring Trouser Colour Is All Over London Right Now—I Know It’ll Dominate Autumn, Too

I have to admit that red has never really been my colour. But lately, I'm seeing red trousers everywhere from the streets of London to influencers on Instagram, and I'm slowly being won over. This bold hue is definitely making its mark, and it's easy to see why. Red trousers add a vibrant punch to any outfit and are surprisingly versatile. Whether you're heading to the office, meeting friends for brunch or dressing for a casual weekend outing, they're the statement piece you didn't know you needed.
Plus, red trousers transition perfectly into autumn, bringing warmth and colour to your seasonal wardrobe. There was no shortage of references on the runways either, with brands like Bottega Veneta, Tommy Hilfiger and Ferragamo showcasing striking pairs in their A/W 24 shows, proving that the trend has the luxury stamp of approval.
If you want to get in on the action but you're stuck for ways to wear them, let me point you in the right direction for styling inspo. Influencer Lydia Tsegay kept it very business chic in a recent look, pairing her red trousers with a simple tank and long overcoat, whilst Marina Torres took a more relaxed approach with a chunky knitted cardigan and loafers—the perfect autumnal uniform. I'm also obsessed with Lucy Williams' take; she chose to go all out by matching her bottoms with a tonal scarlet peplum top.
Where red shoes were the moment in spring, this fixation with cherry hues seems to be working its way into other key items in our wardrobes. Keep it chic by exploring different fabrics like structured cotton or fluid silk, depending on what fits your look. And when it comes to cut and design, I like high-waisted, wide-leg pairs as they offer comfort and will elongate your silhouette, whilst cropped styles are perfect for showing off your favourite footwear.
Have I convinced you yet? Because there are plenty of options out there to suit every budget and style and I've collated the very best below.
