A BOMB alert was reportedly issued near a stadium used for the Paris Olympics after cops discovered a suspicious object.
Police were waiting for a specialist bomb squad to arrive at the Stade de France arena with part of the surrounding area cordoned off, according to Bild .
The nearby Saint Denis Porte de Paris train station was reportedly closed amid the threat.
Paris’ 2024 Olympic games kicked off a week ago.
Many of the events, including today, are being held at the country’s national Stade de France stadium in northern Paris.
The arena was reportedly empty when the bomb alert was issued this afternoon, after the first Olympic session of the day ended at 1pm.
The second isn’t set to start until just before 6pm at the venue which can host over 80,000 people.
As of around 5pm in Paris things in the area have returned to normal, according to a reporter on the ground.
CBC correspondent Devin Heroux said the venues are “packed” and “energetic” fans are heading to the Stade de France for the opening night session of Athletics.
He wrote on X: “Upwards of 70,000 expected”, above a picture of fans heading into a train station.
