Team USA Track & Field star Sha'Carri Richardson dominated during her first showing as an Olympic competitor.

On Friday (August 2), Richardson, 24, won the opening heat of the first round of the women's 100-meter dash with a time of 10.94 seconds at the 2024 Paris Olympics .

Richardson breezed ahead of her competitors and to the finish line after a clean explosion out of the starting blocks. The race marked her first as an Olympian.

The 24-year-old will now advance to the semifinal round on Saturday (August 3) in hopes of qualifying for finals later that day.

"To be at the Olympics is a phenomenal feeling, to be an athlete here, competing with the energy, with a great appreciation for track and field," Richardson said in a statement. "Great support to be a track and field athlete. I'm super excited and eager to compete on the Olympic stage."

Richardson's Olympic debut comes after she missed out on the Tokyo Games following a disqualification for the U.S. trials due to a positive test for marijuana.

On Saturday, Richardson will also be joined by fellow Team USA members Melissa Jefferson and Twanisha Terry , who advanced to the semifinals.
