Hayden Hurst Will Hurt Your Fantasy Team More Than Help It

Hayden Hurst was brought to the Chargers this offseason after Gerald Everett's departure. The team also brought in Will Dissly to help with the tight end position. Although they may both compete for the starting job, the Chargers lack proven talent to help quarterback Justin Herbert.

Hurst has only had one good fantasy season in his six-year career, and that was back in 2020 when he finished as the TE10 in half PPR. In all of his other seasons, he has failed to produce more than 450 yards or have more than three touchdowns. In Week 1 with Carolina last year, he was TE2 overall on the week with 21.60 points. In the following 8 weeks, he scored 41.8 points total and missed the final 8 games of the season.

Due to his lack of production, he is striking little interest. He is an interesting prospect to watch in training camp, and with good reports, he may be able to become a serviceable backup tight end on your fantasy rosters.

Our consensus projections for Hurst in the 2024 season are 17 receptions, 153 yards, and 1 touchdown.
