    A National Parks free day is Sunday: 400 US National Parks waive admission

    This Sunday will offer the chance to take in some of the best scenic views and historical sites that America has to offer.

    August 4 marks the anniversary of the passing of the Great American Outdoors Act , and is also one of six days during the year when entrance to any National Park site is free of charge.

    More than 400 parks from Maine to California, the Florida Keys to Alaska, and all points in between, will be open anyone and everyone.

    This includes all national battlefields, seashores, monuments, and more.

    Great American Outdoors Act

    The Great American Outdoors Act , passed in 2020, provides funding to improve infrastructure and expand recreation opportunities in national parks and other public lands.

    In recent years the National Park Service reported as much as $12 billion in maintenance backlog costs since 2010.

    Upcoming free days at National Parks

    In addition to August 4, National Park sites will waive entrance fees on:

    • September 28 in recognition of National Public Lands Day
    • November 11 for Veterans Day.
