Marvin Harrison Jr. Says He'd Change This One Thing About College Football

Many NFL teams choose to sit their high-priced veterans and even some prized rookies during the preseason to avoid the risk of injury.

However, Arizona Cardinals rookie receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. is a big believer in having some tune-up time before the regular season officially starts. So much so, in fact, that he believes the NCAA should adopt an NFL-like preseason format before each college football season.

“Honestly, I think there probably should be preseason games in college,” Harrison Jr. recently told reporters. “I think people should take advantage of that a little bit more. College, they only play 12 games, so two extra games of preseason won't hurt.”

The Cardinals still haven’t decided whether or not Harrison Jr. will play this preseason, though he seems to be trying to talk the coaching staff into letting him play during Arizona’s three exhibition games — something head coach Jonathan Gannon seems to be in agreement with.

“I think he needs to get out there and play,” he told reporters.

Added Harrison: “Hopefully I get to play. I definitely want to play, get out there, always compete.”

The Cardinals open the preseason Aug. 10 at home against the New Orleans Saints. There’s likely a solid chance Harrison Jr. plays at least a drive or two int hat game.
