WICHITA COUNTY ( KFDX/KJTL ) — A truck traveling on Seymour Highway swerves off the road, blows a tire, and ends up flipped over in a ditch on Friday morning.

The call came in around 9:15 a.m. on Friday, August 2, 2024, regarding an accident on U.S. 82, just past the intersection with Southwest Parkway near D-Bat.

According to Sgt. Juan Gutierrez with the Texas Department of Public Safety, the vehicle was traveling west on the highway when they failed to maintain a single lane and left the roadway.

Sgt. Gutierrez said the vehicle drove into the ditch and struck a culvert, causing the right front tire to blow out.

Authorities said the driver then took faulty evasive action and swerved back across both lanes of U.S. 82. They said the vehicle then entered the north ditch, causing it to roll over and come to rest on its top in the ditch.

DPS, the Wichita County Sheriff’s Office, and AMR responded to the scene.

Sgt. Gutierrez said the driver was wearing his seatbelt and was uninjured from the crash. No other occupants were in the vehicle.
