Rescue Dog Won't Go to Sleep Without Being Tucked in After Spending 2 Years in a Shelter

When it comes to bedtime routines, my daughter is serious. She's four, so that means she has to sleep under a pile of the exact right stuffed animals arranged the exact right way, and before that, there's teeth brushing, the reading of Madeline at least three times, turning on her sound machine at the correct volume — it's all a science. Putting my dog to bed is a much easier (and faster) experience. Since she's my BFF, she mostly just hangs out wherever in the house I happen to be and goes to bed when I do. Some water and a potty run, and she's ready to tuck herself in on my side of the bed. Never fails!

But the dog in this TikTok video seems to have a lot more in common with my human kid than my dog. He has a bedtime routine, and you must not deviate from it — and he absolutely requires being tucked in now that he's no longer living that shelter life.

This video from @ryder.the.rescue shows what nighttime like with the sweetest rescue dog, Ryder. According to his mom, he's very demanding when it comes to being tucked in at night. After living at a shelter for two years, he requires it and he deserves it.

Ryder's mom shared how their routine usually goes, and yes, it involves pajamas (and yes, they are adorable).

Once he's got his PJs on, Ryder listens to some lullabies to wind down and eats a treat as a bedtime snack. Once he's ready to get into bed, a lot of shuffling happens with. his blanket. Of course, he's gotta get it just right for maximum comfort.

Then, he has to be covered with a blanket, and by then, he's good and tired and ready to float off to dreamland. Sweet boy!

    Ryder's Big Personality

Ryder's family adopted him back in May and has been sharing his story on TikTok ever since. This sweet baby is four years old, which means he's spent half of his life in a shelter — how heartbreaking is that?

Now, it seems like he's living a great life, and I'm not even talking about the bedtime routine. Just a quick glance at his TikTok account makes it very clear just how loved Ryder is these days. He spends his days going on walks, wearing cute costumes , and apparently, also getting tucked in at night. What more could a pup ask for?

His human is a good mom for indulging in his bedtime tradition and making everything special and extra comfortable for him. His life must be so much better now compared to how it was just a few short months ago.
