Justin Timberlake made a glum appearance as he pleaded not guilty to a revised misdemeanor charge .

The star made a virtual courtroom appearance on Friday, Aug 2, where a judge suspended his driver's license, retracting his right to drive in the state of New York . Justin logged onto the call wearing a black button down shirt as he was seen with a downcast, reserved expression.

The 43-year-old pop star's DWI arrest followed an evening of socializing with friends at The American Hotel, during which he claimed to have consumed "one martini." Insistent that he was not intoxicated, the former boy band member's lawyer filed a motion to dismiss the case, which has since been withdrawn.

The singer was arrested on Tuesday, June 18 after allegedly running a stop sign. He is also accused of reckless driving and swerving out of his lane on the road. Justin declined to take a breathalyzer test three times, but did comply with field sobriety tests which the reporting officer said he "performed poorly" on.

The star has vehemently denied the DWI charge, and his attorney has stated that they are eager to "vigorously defending" Justin in court.

According to ABC, police concluded that Justin was driving under the influence, with bloodshot, glassy eyes and "a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage" emanating from his breath when stopped. The "Cry Me a River" singer also reportedly exhibited slurred speech and instability on his feet during sobriety tests.

When handcuffed, an insider relayed to The New York Post that Timberlake whispered to the arresting officer, "This is going to ruin the tour." Curious, the officer inquired which tour he meant, apparently oblivious to Justin's fame, prompting Timberlake to clarify: "The world tour."

Nonetheless, Justin did continue with his tour dates, even making joking remarks about the incident. A social media clip that went viral shows Justin quipping to the audience at TD Garden in Boston: "Is there anyone here that is driving? No, I'm just kidding."

Justin's next court appearance is set for Aug. 9. While he attended virtually on Friday, he might be required to attend in person for future proceedings.
