As Simone Biles continues to dominate in the 2024 Paris Olympics, she has made sure to give credit where it is due.
On Friday, Biles took to Instagram to heap praise on her gymnastics coaches, husband-and-wife tandem Cecile and Laurent Landi. The Landis have been coaching Biles since 2017 after her former coach, Aimee Boorman, moved to Florida.
The 27-year-old has now won two gold medals in the 2024 Paris Olympics, helping USA Gymnastics win the team event before securing the top prize in the individual all-around final.
That gives Biles six gold medals in her Olympic career, making her the most decorated gymnast in US history regardless of gender. She broke her tie with Anton Heida, who bagged five golds at the 1904 Olympics.
Cecile Landi posted a heartwarming message for Simone Biles after her latest achievement, saying that she's "beyond proud" of her and "very grateful" to have been part of her journey.
After seeing the message, Biles responded on her Instagram Stories, calling Cecile and Laurent Landi the "GREATEST COACHES OF ALL TIME."
Biles' coaches certainly deserve a lot of credit. It hasn't been an easy journey for the legendary gymnast, especially after she suffered a severe case of twisties during the Tokyo Olympics. However, she was able to overcome that and make her way back to the top.
Sure enough, the Landis played a huge role in making it possible for Biles to compete at a high level again.
The Olympics are far from over for Biles. She has three more opportunities to win gold, as she's competing in the individual vault, balance beam and floor exercise events. Expect the Landis to be there to make sure she's at her best.
