Simone Biles has already cemented her status as the greatest gymnast in the world, but her journey at the 2024 Paris Olympics is far from over. After winning gold with Team USA, and becoming the women's individual all-around champion, Biles can add three more medals to her collection in Paris.
Considering Biles earned the highest overall score in the qualifying round, and won the all-around gold medal, it's understandable to assume that she'd compete on all four apparatuses in the individual finals, but that's not how it works.
To qualify for the individual finals, gymnasts needed to score in the Top 8 for the event during the qualifying round on July 28. Biles finished in first place on both vault and floor, and second overall on the beam. However, she just missed the cut on the uneven bars.
After Germany's Helen Kevric scored a 14.600, she bumped Biles from the eighth place slot by .167 points.
Biles, who racked up five medals at the 2016 Rio Olympics, can match that total in Paris. After becoming the first woman in history to win the all-around gold medal in non-consecutive Olympics, Biles has a total of nine medals -- six gold, one silver, and two bronze.
The uneven bars is largely considered the 27-year-old's "weakest" event. During the all-around final in Paris, she made a huge mistake during one of her connections to the lower bar and earned a 13.733, her lowest score on all four apparatuses. However, her brilliant performance on vault, beam, and floor exercise catapulted her back on top.
