A dad who tortured his six-year-old son to death with treadmill runs has been sentenced to 25 years in prison.

Christopher Gregor, 32, was found guilty of aggravated manslaughter and child endangerment after disturbing footage showed him forcing his son, Corey Micciolo, to sprint repeatedly and increasingly on a treadmill.

In the shocking video released earlier this year Gregor can be seen urgently guiding little Corey through Southern Ocean Medical Center. Reports suggest that the six -ear-old woke up from a nap feeling bewildered, sick, and faint, even stumbling over his words.

In later hospital footage, little Corey appears unconscious as he's swiftly carried to the reception by his father. Doctors testified how Corey boy had contusions all over his body, and his heart and liver were lacerated.

It was confirmed that Corey had died from blunt force trauma and a laceration to his heart. His death was ruled as a homicide caused by chronic child abuse.

Earlier testimony given in court by William Doyle, the nurse on duty at that time, shared that the young boy was taking "dire, almost end of life breaths" when he was admitted to the hospital. As per the Asbury Park Press, Doyle also recalled that Corey "was not showing any signs that he was verbal" and arched back his neck when examined by the medical staff.

Later, a forensic pathologist declared the boy's death as a homicide resulting from blunt force trauma. However, the father's lawyers argue that his son actually succumbed to pneumonia.

Corey tragically passed away just hours after experiencing a seizure while hospital staff attempted to administer a CT scan. Despite their best efforts, the hospital staff were unable to save his life.

Corey’s mother, Breanna Micciolo, told the court how Christopher used his son "as a punching bag", saying: "He is sick in the head and used Corey as his punching bag, he never had an ounce of love for Corey, he never praised him… he punished Corey every chance he could get."

In further heartbreaking details, Corey's grandmother called him Christopher a "monster" and told the court how her grandson even asked her one day why God was not protecting him from his own father's beatings.
