D’Ernest Johnson has been a career backup for his five seasons in the league, with 223 total touches for 1215 yards (5.4 yards per touch) and 3 touchdowns. Last season, he was ineffective as a runner (2.9 yards per attempt) but efficient in the passing game, with 10 catches for 140 yards (14 yards per reception).
This training camp is going to be big for Johnson. If he can close the small gap between him and Tank Bigsby, he could be Etienne’s backup, which could lead to somewhat relevant fantasy outings. He won't be a league winner or anything, but Johnson could be a nice handcuff option if you drafted Etienne. For most rosters, Johnson will be left on the waiver wire, which shouldn’t hurt anyone.
