Most of the time, the Olympic men's basketball tournament serves as a coronation for the United States. Team USA has taken gold in seven of the eight Olympics since NBA players were allowed to participate, and sure enough, they opened the 2024 games in Paris as heavy favorites to win gold yet again. Just don't expect it to come easily.

Under coach Nelson Colon, the team qualified with a 2-1 World Cup performance. They have never won an Olympic medal.

Reckless defending from Nathan Harriel in the first half gifted Morocco a penalty that Rahimi wouldn't miss to score his fourth goal of the Olympics as the Atlas Lions took care of business in their first-ever appearance in the Olympic Games knockout stage. Captain Achraf Hakimi closed things out after a missed tackle from Kevin Paredes to score in his home stadium at Parc des Princes.
