Tyler and Catelynn Baltierra have found themselves in serious money troubles again. According to recent reports, the couple is in danger of losing their home because of unpaid taxes. It isn’t their first time dealing with tax issues, and they are not alone. Tyler and Catelynn are the latest Teen Mom couple to receive a tax bill they did not expect. Over the years, several of the show’s biggest stars have found themselves in hot water when it comes to taxes. We’ve collected several franchise stars who have dealt with tax issues and liens in recent years.

Tyler and Catelynn could lose their house

Tyler and Catelynn Baltierra may have to forfeit their home to the government if they don’t pay their property taxes. Earlier this week, the U.S. Sun reported that the couple owes more than $5,000 in back property taxes. If they fail to pay up, their home could be foreclosed on. The property in question is not the house that Tyler and Catelynn call home. Instead, the bill is associated with a property they are currently selling. They have until March 2025 to pay their bill, so foreclosure doesn’t seem likely.

Property taxes aren’t the only taxes Tyler and Catelynn have trouble paying. Over the years, the duo has had to pay several massive tax liens. In early 2023, they paid off a $321,789.06 federal tax bill. They had to hand over more than $500,000 in unpaid taxes two years earlier, according to the U.S. Sun .

Leah Messer has been paying off the IRS after a hefty bill came her way

Leah Messer has found herself swimming in debt. The mother of three has even picked up a job as a server in recent months to try to clear some of her growing tax troubles . Over the last several years, both the federal government and the state of West Virginia have hit her with tax liens totaling close to $800,000.

According to In Touch Weekly , the liens were for federal taxes from 2014, 2019, 2020, 2022, and 2023. Messer blamed her lack of guidance and financial literacy on the problem. However, she insists she is rectifying it now and hopes to use her experience to help teach other people.

Maci Bookout owes the government a lot of money, too

Leah Messer isn’t the only cast member who has dealt with several massive tax liens. Maci Bookout is dealing with a series of liens totaling over $700,000. More could come, too.

According to the U.S. Sun , Bookout was named in five separate tax liens earlier this year. Bookout’s husband, Taylor McKinney, is involved, too. It is unclear when or how the couple plans to pay off their debts.

Other money troubles have followed the ‘Teen Mom’ stars

Leah, Maci, and the Baltierras are the only Teen Mom stars who have major dealings with the IRS. Still, they are not the only cast members who faced serious money stress. Farrah Abraham and Chelsea Houska have had major financial hiccups, too.

In 2019, Farrah Abraham was sued for unpaid rent. The former Teen Mom star shuttered several stores that year. After closing her businesses, Abraham didn’t seem interested in living up to her end of the lease agreement . The property owner sued her. A judge sided with the property owner. A judge ordered Abraham to pay $700,000 in back rent and damages.

Chelsea Houska was the recipient of a lawsuit, too. Just a year after Abraham’s rent debacle, a consulting firm sued Chelsea Houska. In 2020, Envy filed suit against Houska and her husband, Cole DeBoer, and their company for unpaid fees and commissions. They sought $4 million from the couple. According to the Ashley Reality Roundup Group , a judge dismissed the lawsuit in 2024.
