Las Vegas Raiders veterans are not holding back on the rookies during training camp

The Las Vegas Raiders have a great culture brewing in the locker room and the front office. They do things the Raider Way, not the way of the New England Patriots like former head coach Josh McDaniels tried to do during his tenure with the team.

Now, with Antonio Pierce as the head coach, and not the interim, humanity feels like it's been restored. The Raiders have a similar culture back in the locker room that feels like the way of the old Raiders teams that were dominant.

You can tell based on the vibes of the team that things are how they should be, and now it's just about translating that to wins out on the field.

As for the rookies -- coming into this culture could be somewhat of a shock. You have guys like Maxx Crosby constantly screaming and yelling and just having the most energy possible. Then you have Antonio Pierce yelling the Raiders' chant all the time. It could be very different from college.

Luckily for the rookies, they aren't going to get any special treatment, and they dang sure won't get it taken easy on them. The veterans are not holding back, and that could only make the young guys better.

“We have a rule here- You’re a rookie in the meetings, you’re a rookie in the meal room, but when you step in that ring - it’s all fair game," veteran running back Ameer Abdullah said at training camp.

And, maybe that's working, because we are already seeing some of the rookies approach practice and training camp at a level that only a veteran would do. Dylan Laube is calm cool and collected during camp, and he is surprising a lot of people.

Meanwhile, Brock Bowers is doing so well, that he is making defenders look silly by making crazy plays. This rookie class has some juice to them, and they will only get better. The way the veterans approach the rookies is a reason why they are already off to a fast start.
