Simone Biles has dominated in the 2024 Paris Olympics, collecting her seventh career gold medal after winning the women's vault event earlier today.

It was Biles third medal of this year's edition, adding up her overall tally to 10 since her debut in the 2016 edition in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

It hasn't been the cakewalk fans would expect of Biles, as she has been facing immense competition from Brazilian gymnast Rebeca Andrade. Biles finished with an average score of 15.300 (15.700 first, 14.900 second) while Andrade ended her display with an average of 14.966 (15.1 first, 14.833 second).

Given how close the two were in the event, Biles heaped immense praise on Andrade, saying she "never had an athlete that close" to her in a competition.

"I don't wanna compete with Rebeca no more. I'm tired. She's way too close. I've never had an athlete that close, so it definitely put me on my toes and it brought out the best athlete in myself," Biles said. "So I'm excited and proud to compete with her...but I'm getting uncomfortable guys. I don't like that feeling - I was STRESSED."

The victory served as redemption for Biles, as she and Andrade have their fair share of history in world competitions. Biles lost to Andrade in last year's vault competition at the world championships due to a backwards fall on her first attempt.

Biles secured gold in the vault final at the 2016 Rio Olympics. Meanwhile, Andrade claimed the vault title in Tokyo after Biles withdrew from the event.

Competition will remain high between these two, as they have more events to go through as there are more medals they will contend for. As a result, there should be lots of eyes on them as they continue their journey in Paris.
