‘I pushed my cart away & walked out’ Walmart shopper fumes as workers ‘just standing around’ & vows to not shop at store

A WALMART customer has been left furious after a negative checkout experience during a recent grocery trip.

They blasted the retail giant for the supposed incident and left in frustration without buying any merchandise.

“Walmart, there were more employees that customers,” the shopper seethed on X .

“Most of them just standing around. I pushed my cart away and walked out. I dont work there.

“Now I dont shop there either.”

The U.S Sun has reached out to Walmart for comment.

While the nature of the shopper’s greivance wasn’t entirely clear, many other customers have slammed employees over a slew of fresh anti-theft measures, including receipt checkers.

RECEIPT RULE CONFUSION

One Reddit user created a thread titled, “Showing receipt when leaving Walmart.”

“What are the rules when you are leaving Walmart and the guy at the door insists on looking at your receipt? They don’t check my receipt in the supermarket or any other department store,” the user wrote .

“Yes, I know you must show your receipt in Costco, but you agree to that when you sign up.

“What is my obligation to show my receipt, and what can they do if I refuse?”

A user shared their own receipt-check story in the thread, saying, “There was this one time a Walmart employee didn’t ask to see my receipt, she just yanked the receipt out of my hand, and then she took her sweet as slow molasses time looking through all my bags.

“After that, she said, ‘Ok, everything checks out. Enjoy the rest of your day.’ Because of her, I was late to an appointment.

“That employee still irks me to this day!”

CRACKING DOWN

Walmart’s receipt-checking policy was created to combat theft, a problem that is prevalent throughout major retailers.

Anti-theft measures rolled out by retailers

Retailers across the US and Canada have rolled out strategies designed to combat theft. The U.S. Sun has compiled a list of measures that have been implemented at stores.

• Locking items in cabinets.
• Security pegs.
• Security cameras.
• Signs warning about the impact of theft.
• Receipt scanners.
• Receipt checks.
• Carts with locking technology

According to research conducted by Capitol One , stores lost $121.6 billion to retail theft in 2023, and projections are only expected to rise in the coming years.

In addition to receipt-checking, Walmart has also begun locking up items to prevent stealing .

TARGET TROUBLE

Walmart is not the only store where customers are complaining about the checkout setup.

Target also received customer pushback after it placed an item limit on self-checkout and reduced the number of open lanes.

“My Target store has not opened any new lanes since your self-checkout change,” protested one shopper from Ohio.

“Lines are getting outrageous.”

Another shopper went to check out at a traditional register and noticed there were “no checkers.”

“The line for self-checkout was 20 deep,” she recalled.

“I abandoned my cart and left.”
