MrBeast has reportedly started a formal review after he was accused of mistreating contestants during the preliminary filming for his game show, Beast Games, according to a report by the New York Times .

The YouTube star, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson , has been hit with allegations of not giving sufficient food or medical care to contestants competing for a spot on his upcoming Amazon reality show. A purported contestant has also claimed to have witnessed others exiting the arena on stretchers .

Additional accusations include reports of contestants throwing up, passing out, and being sent to the hospital, all according to the New York Times report. A spokesperson for MrBeast told the TImes that the filming was "unfortunately complicated by the CrowdStrike incident , extreme weather and other unexpected logistical and communications issues".

In a text message shared with The New York Times , the spokesperson for MrBeast said the YouTuber had started a formal review. They added he had "taken steps to ensure that we learn from this experience."

Only 1,000 players will be competing in the upcoming Beast Games show. However, 2,000 contestants and 100 extras were included in the preliminary filming in July for MrBeast's YouTube channel to compete for a spot on the upcoming show, with the filming taking place in Nevada’s Allegiant Stadium.

Individuals involved in the game show spoke to The New York Times on condition of anonymity, alleging they were only fed twice a day. They claimed that when they were given meals, the portions were small and "did not account for dietary allergies".

The anonymous contestants also reported that their medications weren’t given to them in a timely fashion - this posed an issue since competitors allegedly weren’t permitted to have their medications on their person. A payment of $1000 was offered to those who participated in the first round irrespective of if they progressed to the next round "for their troubles", The New York Times reported.

A representative for MrBeast said to the New York Times: "We are grateful that virtually all of those invited to Toronto for our next production have enthusiastically accepted our invitation." They added: "We have communicated directly with 97% of the 2,000 people who attended to ask for feedback, have launched a formal review of the process and have taken steps to ensure that we learn from this experience and we are excited to welcome hundreds of men and women to the world’s largest game show in history."
