Former Penn State gymnast Stephen Nedoroscik wins medal on pommel

“Pommel horse” guy did it once again.

Former Penn State and current men’s Olympic gymnastics team member, Stephen Nedoroscik, has become a bit of an internet sensation with his exploits at the 2024 Paris Summer Olympic Games . He competes solely on one apparatus, likes to pass the time by solving a Rubik’s Cube, loves his glasses, and seems to be one whale of a support for his teammates.

It was his pommel horse routine that clinched the bronze medal for the United States, its first medal since the 2008 Summer Games in Beijing. That only ramped up his popularity and he’s been making the media rounds since.

A byproduct of doing a stellar routine in the team competition is that Nedoroscik also qualified for the event final in pommel horse for a chance to check another medal in his luggage home. And so, he was at it again on Saturday, and we probably don’t have to tell you that he was nails for a second time.

Nedoroscik’s start value wasn’t as high as others, but he stepped up to the pommel horse and completed a nearly flawless routine to move into 3 ^rd place and had to wait for two more gymnasts to finish to see if was enough. Enough it was, and Nedoroscik walked away with another bronze medal, finishing behind Northern Ireland’s Rhys McClenaghan and Nariman Kurbanov of Khasikstan.

Sometimes opportunity knocks and you get a small window to step through. That's exactly what Nedoroscik managed to do, twice. And he's already been more than gracious in his reverence for what Penn State has meant in that journey.
