Blue Jays Star Makes Blunt Injury Admission Amid Poor 2024 Season

The Toronto Blue Jays' season has been an utter disappointment. They sit at the bottom of the American League East with a 51-60 record and just traded away a handful of players at the deadline.

Their ace in past years, Kevin Gausman, isn't having the best campaign, either. The veteran owns a 9-8 record and a 4.56 ERA in 22 starts after owning a 3.16 ERA a year ago.

Things have not gone to plan for Gausman and as of late, he's been getting lit up, allowing at least three runs in each of his last three outings. In an exclusive interview with Dan Connolly of SportsKeeda, the right-hander revealed that he pitched through a shoulder injury earlier in the season:

“To be honest, I didn't necessarily start the year on a great note,” Gausman said. “I had some shoulder problems in spring and, look back, I probably could have benefitted from a rehab stint or maybe just missing a couple starts to get my feet under me.”

That's not something any Blue Jays fan will want to hear. While he did pitch well through his first few starts of '24, it's clear Gausman wasn't at full strength.

Toronto lost 8-3 to the New York Yankees on Saturday and will finish up a three-game set with their divisional rivals on Sunday.
