Casey Affleck Warned Ben Affleck to ‘Think Long and Hard’ Before Breaking Up With His Famous Girlfriend

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez have taken the media by storm in 2024. The couple fell in love in the early 2000s, broke up, and found love with each other again in 2021. While divorce rumors loom , we’re looking back at another one of Ben’s relationships after he divorced Jennifer Garner and before he got back together with Lopez. Here’s what his brother, Casey Affleck, said about Ben’s relationship with actor Ana de Armas.

Ben Affleck was married to Jennifer Garner before splitting in 2015. After the split, he pursued several relationships, one of which was with actor Ana de Armas. The couple was romantically linked in 2020 after they were spotted on a vacation in Havana, Cuba. Sources claimed the couple fully pursued a romance at the time. Affleck and Armas worked together on the film Deep Water, which is seemingly how they fell in love.

Unfortunately, by January 2021, Ben and Armas seemed to call it quits. Ben’s younger brother, Casey Affleck, spoke to Entertainment Tonight about the split and mentioned that he doesn’t think Armas or Ben would have trouble moving on.

“The reality is, I think that this year has been really hard on people in relationships,” Casey admitted. “I wouldn’t know because I’ve been single, but I bet there are a lot of people that have, you know, it’s been challenging to relationships. And I think that Ana is just the sweetest, funniest, smartest, most charming person. I think she won’t have any problems meeting somebody else.”

Casey also advised the couple to “think long and hard” before completely doing away with their romance. “I think she’s a catch in every way,” he continued. “And I’ll be there to carry Ben through it, but I don’t think he’ll have any problems [either]. My advice to them would be like, ‘Yes, think long and hard about it because quarantine is not fun if you’re single.'”

Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas didn’t have a long-lasting romance, and Armas reportedly pulled the plug before Ben could.

“Ben is no longer dating Ana,” a source told People . “She broke it off. Their relationship was complicated. Ana doesn’t want to be Los Angeles based, and Ben obviously has to since his kids live in Los Angeles.”

Another source called the split “mutual” and “completely amicable.”

“They are in different points in their lives; there is deep love and respect there,” the second source continued. “Ben continues to want to work on himself. He has three jobs lined up, and he’s a solid father at home. They are both happy with where they are in their lives.”

While Armas allegedly seemed excited to live with Ben in LA, she later explained that she hated receiving so much attention in the big city over her relationship.

He rekindled his flame with Jennifer Lopez shortly after the split

Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas broke up in early 2021. By May 2021, Ben was back to dating Jennifer Lopez, which shocked and pleased fans. Ben and Lopez completed their epic love story by tying the knot in 2022, and they remain married in 2024.

Unfortunately, Ben and Lopez seem to be headed for divorce . The couple stopped living together several months into 2024, with Lopez living in their Beverly Hills mansion and Ben living in a $100,000 monthly rental in Brentwood. In July 2024, the couple publicly listed the mansion for sale. Ben also bought a $20 million house in Brentwood by himself. As for Lopez, she’s spent most of the summer on the East Coast away from her estranged husband, as he didn’t even attend her birthday party in the Hamptons .
