Bobby Shocked People Get Their Birthdays Off From Work

A listener called into The Bobby Bones Show and shared that it was her birthday and wanted to know how they would celebrate if their birthday fell on a weekday.

Since it’s on a Monday, Bobby Bones suggested they celebrate the weekend before and then go out to a nice dinner with a few close friends on their actual birthday. Bones thought people shouldn’t take off work just because it’s their birthday. If they want to use their own PTO then that’s fine, but just taking off since it’s your birthday should not be a reason. Lunchbox thought everyone should automatically get off for their birthday.

Bones had never heard of companies giving their employees a day off on their birthday until a few called in and explained their company allows them to. They also shared that if your birthday falls on a Saturday or Sunday that year, they let them take off that Friday or Monday. Another listener called in and shared that his employees work so that they deserve a paid day off on their birthday. He also explained if they chose to work on their birthday then they get paid double. Bones had never thought birthdays were a big deal so he was in shock to find out so many adults get the day off for theirs!
