Tom Brady (12) and Rob Gronkowski (87).

Retired tight end Rob Gronkowski spent the bulk of his playing career catching passes thrown by quarterback Tom Brady, and the two remain close as Brady prepares to start his journey as Fox's new lead in-game NFL analyst next month.

During a recent appearance on NFL Network's "Good Morning Football" program, Gronkowski offered a bold prediction about what Brady will and won't be as a commentator.

"I think Tom Brady is going to absolutely dominate in the booth," Gronkowski explained, as shared by Gayle Troiani of NESN. "He'll definitely have his ups and downs. Of course, anyone entering a new gig in life, you're going to have to have some lessons that you're going to have to learn, but overall, I think he's going to be very successful."

It's worth noting that Gronkowski serves as an "NFL on Fox" personality during seasons and, thus, may have some company-related reasons to hype up how Brady will perform calling games alongside top play-by-play announcer Kevin Burkhardt. With that said, Gronkowski is hardly the only noteworthy person who regularly speaks with Brady who has made it known this summer he believes the seven-time Super Bowl champion will be successful sitting in the chair previously occupied by award-winning broadcaster Greg Olsen.

"Don't overthink it and just be yourself," Gronkowski said about how Brady can be a hit starting with the Week 1 matchup between the Dallas Cowboys and Cleveland Browns on Sept. 8. "Go out there and share that gift he was born with. That gift is the knowledge of football that he has, and he has the most knowledge for the game of football than any ex, any former player out there. So, just go out and share that knowledge with the world, and he will absolutely dominate."

Brady spent portions of his retirement "gap year" studying and speaking with media members regarding his transition into the commentary booth. His competitive nature as a player helped him become the greatest winner in NFL history, and Gronkowski suggested that work ethic will result in Brady receiving positive reviews as an announcer.

"I would never put anything past him, and he has all this time to prepare," Gronkowski added about Brady. "When he has time to prepare, he will always be on his A-game. So, Tom Brady's going to dominate, and I can't wait for it."

Fox executives clearly are banking on Brady "dominating" en route to drawing viewers, as the 47-year-old agreed to a 10-year deal reportedly worth $375M with the network following the 2021 season. Fans can expect to hear plenty of takes about that contract if Brady stumbles during his first handful of Fox games.
