Another name is going to be joining the most prestigious list in the history of the Miami Dolphins franchise.  And who better to make that honoree known than one of the greatest Dolphins of all time in Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee Zach Thomas .

Thomas took the podium on Monday before the media at the Baptist Health Training Complex, and he announced that former DT Tim Bowens.

"I want to make this short, but this ain't about me," Thomas said.  "I want to introduce to you the guy who was the ultimate teammate. One that was unselfish. Made everyone around him better.  Made JT better.  Sam and Pat.  Myself.  And never complained.  Country strong, and never lost ground.  And I want to introduce and give a warm welcome to Tim bad ass Bowens."

After a quick embrace, Bowens was humble and clearly moved by the honor.

"Like I told the guys, it was a shock, but I knew something was going on when they called me down here for some kind of meeting.  I was like, you guys have never called for a meeting.  But I'm really thankful and appreciative that the guys appreciated me like that.  I really didn't think much of it, but I'm really thankful and grateful and honored I can't wait to call mom, and tell my mom, tell my family, my kids.  So, I don't know what to say right now.  I'm just humbled and grateful."

Bowens was drafted by the Dolphins in the first round of the 1994 NFL Draft with the 20th overall pick.  He made a name for himself quickly, earning AP Defensive Rookie of the Year honors in 1994.  For 11 seasons, he helped wreak havoc on opposing lineman, helping to open up space ahead of Thomas, who joined the Dolphins in 1996.  For his career, Bowens totaled 414 combined tackles with 26 tackles for loss and 22 sacks while earning Pro Bowl honors in 1998 and 2002.

Bowens becomes the first addition to the Dolphins Ring of Honor since 2014, when Manny Fernandez was honored.  He becomes the 27th individual to be inducted , apart from undefeated 1972 team.
