A Golf Channel announcer teed off on Spanish golfer Jon Rahm for surrendering a four-shot lead in the final round of the Paris Olympics on Sunday.

Rahm, who won the Masters in 2023, shot a 39 on the last nine holes to finish out of medal contention. World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler of the U.S. shot a sizzling 29 on the same holes to win gold. Tommy Fleetwood of Britain took silver and Hideki Matsuyama of Japan took bronze.

Analyst Brandel Chamblee got a little harsh in describing the Spaniard’s performance.

“I’m gonna put that down as one of the biggest collapses ... chokes of the year,” he said in a video of the comment . “Probably right up there with Rory McIlroy coming down the stretch at the U.S. Open .”

Rahm, who missed the Tokyo Olympics in 2021 after testing positive for COVID-19, beat himself up, too.

“I don’t know what the word is because I not only feel like I let myself down, but to just not get it done for the whole country of Spain, it’s a lot more painful than I would like it to be,” Rahm said, per AFP .
