Ice Spice opened up about the pressures of being a successful woman who raps amongst men who may not have to work as hard.

In her most recent cover story with Rolling Stone , the “Deli” rapper spoke on prepping for her 2024 BET Awards performance of “Phat Butt,” and also the pressures of the “misogynistic” world.

“We do live in a misogynistic world where it’s like you have to be breathtakingly hot to get certain opportunities,” she expressed. “I was born as a woman and raised as a woman, so I only know this lifestyle, but I could just imagine how easy it is for guys.”

She added, “I am very jealous when the men on my team get to sleep an extra five f**king hours because they don’t have glam.”

Ice also admitted that her perspective changed when it comes to artists performing for live TV.

“I used to judge other artists’ awards show performances . I’d be like, ‘Oh, that was awkward. Why the f**k would they do that? Why was she looking there?’” she told Rolling Stone . “When you’re doing it yourself, you’re like, ‘OK, this is a lot.’ There are like 10 different cameras. There are cues, and everything is just so much, but it’s fun, though. At the end of the day, when it’s over, it’s fun.”

Most recently, the Bronx star twerked all over a makeshift gas station during her performance at the 2024 BET Awards, while wearing white lace lingerie and showing off her toned body.

Since the onset of her music career with her viral hit “Munch (Feelin’ U),” Ice has taken time to work on her stage presence and herself.

Starting out rather breathy and repetitive of the same moves , Ice has now found her groove utilizing the entire stage and light choreography to bring her shows to life. She’s even been in the gym , showing her progress here and there.

Proving that she’s only getting better, Ice has been drawing in large crowds every show date while on her Y2K tour with Cash Cobain , Cleotrapa, and her longtime producer RiotUSA.

Check out a clip from one of her most recent shows in New Jersey below.
