Robert Irwin continues to make huge strides in wildlife conservation and milestones in his career, and he marked his recent success with a touching tribute to his father Steve Irwin , and his legacy.
The 20-year-old shared a clip to Instagram depicting how Steve wished for his kids to take over his work—and Robert is fulfilling that dream.
"My life has been dedicated to continuing an important legacy and working to create my own," Robert wrote in the caption. "I’m passionate about sharing a message through everything I do in front of and behind the camera, and I’m very honoured to be recognised for that 🙏."
In the clip, Steve answered the question, "Is there anything in this world that would wanna make me give away what I'm doing now?"
"Yes there is. When my children can take the football that I call wildlife conservation and run it up," he said. The beautiful tribute went on to show how Robert has followed in Steve's footsteps over the years , with the young man saying, "I've always wanted to continue my dad's legacy."
But Robert has also grown and developed his own identity and career, and included footage showed Robert winning the 2023 GQ Australia's Social Force of the Year award and hosting the show I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here , among other things.
Robert's mother, Terri , commented in support of him with a sweet message: "You make me so proud. I know your dad is proud too. As you forge your own path in this world, you continue to shine a light on your dad’s message and mission. The world is a better place because of you. I love you!"
Fans were just as emotional about the post, commenting things like, "I am so proud of you…for continuing this LOVE and sharing it with us. He is proud of you," and "Why tf am I crying!😢 omg I miss u steve and your kids and wife are so amazing!"
