On Saturday, the New England Patriots lost their first place to injured reserve for the season, as Tyrone Wheatley Jr. was placed on the list . Now, just two days later, they've added another.

New England announced on Monday that they've placed center Jake Andrews on season-ending injured reserve after he started training camp on the active/PUP list.

The Patriots selected Andrews, 24, in the fourth round of the 2023 NFL draft out of Troy. He appeared in 16 games as a rookie mostly on special teams. He got 13 snaps at center in Week 17 against the Buffalo Bills and played the full game at center in Week 17 against the New York Jets.

Andrews was expected to be the team's backup center again in 2024, but he hasn't been on the field yet due to an undisclosed injury.

In training camp, New England has relied on free-agent signing Nick Leverett and Atonio Mafi to handle the backup center duties behind David Andrews. If David Andrews goes down, the offense could be in a real bad spot this year.
