Algerian welterweight Imane Khelif defeated Hungary's Anna Luca Hamori in the quarterfinal round at the 2024 Paris Olympics on Saturday, guaranteeing herself at least a bronze medal.

After her latest victory, Khelif addressed the gender controversy that has sparked heated discussions throughout the Summer Games, saying, "I want to tell the entire world that I am a female, and I will remain a female."

Khelif failed a gender eligibility test at the World Boxing Championships last year, but the International Boxing Association (IBA) has not released the results of the gender test or explained how it arrived at that conclusion. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has rejected the IBA's decision and made it clear that all of the boxers in the women's category are in compliance with eligibility rules. A chaotic press conference on Monday only created more questions about the IBA's credibility.
