A resolution to the ongoing situation involving star 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk may be coming to an end.

But he may not be wearing a Niners jersey when all is said and done.

Aiyuk and the 49ers have been locked in a contract dispute that has been stalled for some time and is likely to end with the receiver being traded, NFL Network reported.

49ers’ Brandon Aiyuk trade talks coming down to Browns, Patriots as offers leaked

Aiyuk has been seeking a contract extension, but the two sides haven’t been able to come to any sort of agreement putting things in a precarious position.

Network insiders Mike Garafolo and Tom Pelissero indicated that there are several teams that “are in play” for Aiyuk, but no deal is in place as of now.

A report surfaced early Monday afternoon that the 49ers were about to trade Aiyuk to the Steelers, however, that report has been disputed by several NFL insiders including Garafolo and Pelissero.

2024 NFL predictions, odds: Rams will challenge 49ers in NFC West

The Browns and Patriots had been viewed as the top suitors for Aiyuk, The Athletic reported ,

Multiple teams have been given permission to talk with Aiyuk’s agent about getting a contract extension in place should a trade happen.

Still, the 49ers aren’t just going to give away the receiver for nothing.

Aiyuk is coming off consecutive 1,000-yard seasons and recorded a career-high 1,342 yards and seven touchdowns in 2023.

He is slated to make $14.124 million for the 2024 season, which is the last on his rookie contract.

The 26-year-old formally requested a trade in July, but did report to training camp.

He is attending team activities while not participating in them as part of a hold-in.

Publicly, the 49ers had expressed that they intended to have Aiyuk with the team going forward and general manager John Lynch told reporters last month he expected the receiver to be “an integral part of our team.”
