The artist discussed his previous drug use in the most recent episode of the Dumb Blonde podcast on Monday. He shared that he used to use weed, as well as hydrocodone and Percocet. Furthermore, few people were aware of his time in rehab, which he sought outside of his inner circle, and he received treatment from various psychiatrists and therapists during that period. “That was my first time I ever went to rehab. They just gave me so many ways to operate the body and show where this anger is coming from and methods to quell it ,” MGK explained.

He continued to explain how his condition helped him understand how he processes things along with managing his emotions: “But I ended up falling into an awareness of what my condition is and have made peace with it. It’s a constant tightrope walk. That one feels a little too brand new for me to confidently say.” MGK did not disclose his condition and is keeping the specifics private for now, as reported by TOO FAB.

There was a moment when his sobriety was tested while filming the music video for his track “Lonely Road” with Jelly Roll. The podcast host Bunnie XO, who is also Jelly Roll’s wife, recalled how MGK declined a drinking contest while the video was being shot at a bowling alley.

And it was probably just from that place of ego where I was just like, ‘Jelly, I just want to drink you under the table.'”

Machine Gun Kelly also emphasized how supportive Megan Fox has been throughout his sobriety journey. Although there have been some ups and downs, he stated that the experience is helping him become more comfortable with who he is.

“I continue to embrace that this journey is gonna be hard for me, but I accept it and forgive myself. I’m also really hard on myself, very self-deprecating. So, I guess, I’m just happy that I’m able to start to be comfortable enough to show people who I am because I kind of depended on my art to do that.”
