Skateboarder Born With “No Legs, No Limits” Smashes Guinness World Record

Never underestimate Kanya Sesser. This talented skateboarder, model, and actor continues to prove that not having legs doesn’t mean she can’t follow her dreams. From the moment Kanya was born, she has faced obstacles. It all started when she was born without any legs. Soon after, she was abandoned on the side of a road in Thailand. The only reason she was found is because her cries could be heard from a nearby house.

Thankfully, the kind people who found her were happy to help. Then, at 5 years old, Kanya was adopted, and her new life in the United States began. Early on, it was clear to Kanya’s adoptive parents that she was the adventurous type. She rarely wanted to stay inside the house, and she fell in love with skateboarding as soon as her friend gave her the chance.

“My first attempt was riding down the hill by my house and it was the best feeling ever!” Kanya recalls .

Over the years, Kanya would go on to try a number of adaptive sports. This includes rugby, swimming, wheelchair racing, and more. Kanya is such a skilled athlete , in fact, that she competed in the Paralympics in track. Now, she can add Guinness World Records holder to her long list of accomplishments!

What did Kanya do in order to earn such an amazing recognition ? She completed the longest Handstand on a Skateboard (LA3) – that last part indicates the category for folks with an absence of both legs from above the knee. This she supported herself solely with her hands, while on her board, for a total of 19.65 seconds.

“It’s so incredible to me to make history for others to see,” Kanya says . “I have made an impact on others for the next generations to come.”
