Chambers, an England youth international, can play at left-back and at center-back and was a regular for Wigan where he was managed by Shaun Maloney and became a key player. After completing the Liverpool pre-season tour of the USA, the Reds have now confirmed the move, as anticipated.
Wigan will begin its League One campaign with a home game against Charlton Athletic on Saturday, with the Liverpool duo likely to start in that match. Ramsay featured in the 1-1 friendly draw against Blackburn Rovers last weekend.
Before heading back to Merseyside, Liverpool boss Arne Slot confirmed that his roster would be cut down in size , with all of the players now returned from their holidays following the European Championship and Copa America-caused delay.
"I think other clubs have more players than us but it depends on who you are counting," Slot told outlets including The Athletic while in the USA. "If you are counting all the youngsters on the tour then there are many, but a few of them will go back to the U21s or U18s so I don’t think we have too many."
Liverpool.com says: Wigan was a place where Chambers did well last season. He could have probably made a Championship switch but he will be guaranteed minutes at the Brick Community Stadium and was comfortable there a few weeks ago. If he progresses, Liverpool will be able to assess him again, with Conor Bradley and Jarell Quansah having both made the leap from League One, the third tier in England, to the Premier League in the recent past.
