Nevertheless, their legendary producer, George Martin, once discussed what he called the perfect mix of all four members’ talents. Find out which song that is, below.

We’d venture to guess that “Come Together” is featured on many Beatles fans’ “favorites” lists. Despite its weird, non-sensical lyrical content, the melody is deeply infectious. It’s impossible to not sing along to this stomping anthem when it comes on.

While fans can recognize how great this song is, Martin put its appeal into words. He once called this track the perfect combination of all four members’ strengths.

“If I had to pick one song that showed the four disparate talents of the boys and the ways they combined to make a great sound, it would be ‘Come Together,’” Martin said. “The original song is good, but with John’s voice, it’s better. Then Paul had this idea for this great little riff. And Ringo hears that and does a drum thing that fits in and then there’s George’s guitar at the end. The four of them became much better than the individual components.”

We have to agree with Martin here. The foursome did seem to be firing on all cylinders in this song. From Lennon’s staccato vocals, to the insatiable drum beat, and punching chorus, it’s certainly a strong contender for the “best Beatles song ever.”
