Now that we’ve learned how to eat bagged salad directly out of the bag, there’s a new trick that'll improve those takeout salads you might be picking up for a quick lunch or dinner. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve ordered a salad from a takeout restaurant only to get home and see only a tiny container of dressing .

I’ve noticed that most restaurants like to give packets (my favorite) or dressing cups with lids, but oftentimes there's not enough to dress all the greens. Sometimes, I end up needing to make up the difference with dressing from my own refrigerator.

And it seems I'm not alone in this particular food frustration. I recently came across a simple tip to help solve this problem in a TikTok video from Melissa Ben-Ishay of Baked By Melissa (and viral green goddess salad) fame. In the video, Ben-Ishay shows us an interesting technique that will help you double the salad dressing that comes with your takeout salad .

How To Double Dressing for Takeout Salad

In the video, Ben-Ishay tears open the bag from a takeout restaurant and then opens a bowl of salad. She pours about one-half of the salad dressing and mixes it into the greens.

Here comes the trick: She grabs a whole lemon and slices it in half. She places one half in a handheld juicer and squeezes the juice over the greens. Finally, she tosses the greens, dressing and lemon juice together in the bowl.

Practically speaking we're not sure this is the best hack for lunches al desko because who has a juicer and fresh lemon lying around in the car or at work? But it could be a good trick to try when we're eating our takeout salad at home. One of the commenters also had another idea that also got us thinking. Why not add the lemon juice to the dressing cup, shake it and pour it over?
