Cody Johnson Says He’s Been In Talks About “A Few Movie Things” With Yellowstone Creator Taylor Sheridan

This just makes too much sense that I can’t believe it hasn’t happened yet.

Of course, former bull rider turned country star Cody Johnson is as genuine of a cowboy as there is, and he would be a natural, and very authentic, fit for any of the Yellowstone spinoff shows, as far as I’m concerned.

In all honesty, he’s probably the most qualified country artist to play a cowboy on a TV show, considering that he was a cowboy for a living and is Texas through and through. It’s a shame he couldn’t be in the original Yellowstone show alongside Lainey Wilson, but obviously, he’s a busy man and unfortunately it just hasn’t worked out thus far.

And with Season 5 wrapping up this November, he’ll have to look into some other shows or movies Yellowstone creator and, showrunner and writer Taylor Sheridan has in the works (of which there are many), and it sounds like he might already have a few acting opportunities in the works.

In a recent interview with Audacy’s Rob + Holly, CoJo revealed that he’s been in talks with Sheridan before to appear in the Yellowstone universe on one of the shows, but couldn’t make it work because he didn’t have a lot of time to fit it into his very busy schedule.

He says that he wants to, he just needs enough notice to make it happen, and there’s a few “movie things” they’re talking about right now:

“We’ve tried a couple of times [for Yellowstone] and my schedule is too busy to put aside the time. We’re looking ahead to the future.

There’s a few movie things where I’m like, ‘Look, if you guys give me the notice, I can make this happen.’”

Something tells me we might see CoJo on our TV screens sometime in the future, maybe in forthcoming spinoff The Madison or something else in the works? Stay tuned…

Of course, they previously confirmed that filming had already started the second half of Season 5 of Yellowstone, which will likely feature Lainey Wilson returning as Abby, who had a budding romance with ranch worker Ryan.

And speaking of Cody, his single “Dirt Cheap” is currently in the Top 10 at country radio, and has already been certified Gold by the RIAA.
