JD Vance Lashes Out at Media Over Kamala Harris Coverage: ‘You Guys Have Got To Do a Better Job’

Republican vice presidential candidate JD Vance ended a Tuesday interview with reporters by blasting their coverage of Vice President Kamala Harris , accusing the media of letting her run with a “basement strategy.”

Vance spoke to reporters while on the campaign trail in Philadelphia on Tuesday to react to news that Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) will be Harris’s running mate . Vance said he called Walz to congratulate him, but claimed the pick showed how “radical” Harris is.

Before wrapping up, Vance lashed out at the reporters for not “forcing” Harris to answer questions.

“I know most of you, I like all of you as people or at least I like the ones of you that I know. I think you guys have got to do a better job at forcing Kamala Harris to answer questions. This is a person who has been the presumptive Democratic nominee for 16 days, she hasn’t taken a single real question from a reporter,” Vance said.

Vance called Harris’s lack of media interviews “shameful.”

“The American people deserve to get to know the people who want to lead, but I think it’s shameful for Kamala Harris and increasingly for the media that she’s taking a basement strategy of running from reporters instead of getting in front of them and answering tough questions about her record and letting the American people know who she is,” he said.

Vance added that he and Donald Trump take “hostile questions” often from the media. He told the reporters again before ending the gaggle that they need to “do a better job.”

” President Trump and I, we take hostile questions, we take non-hostile questions, we get out there and talk to people because we respect the American people enough to want to persuade them and not to try and run from them so I think you guys have got to do a better job,” he said. “That’s my humble opinion.”
