United States sprinter Gabby Thomas easily won her first-round heat in the women's 200 meter on Sunday morning, running a time of 22.20 seconds. She then improved on that time with a 21.86 time in the semifinal on Monday.

The two-time Olympic medalist looks to be in great position as she enters the 200 meter final on Tuesday evening, which will pit her against 100 meter gold medalist Julien Alfred of Saint Lucia.

Thomas is one of the biggest stars in track and field. And as such, she's served as an excellent ambassador for the sport.

Earlier this year, the 27-year-old athlete announced an exciting partnership with Reddit founder Alex Ohanian that aims to advance the popularity of women's track and field.

Ohanian's Seven Seven Six venture capital firm will sponsor a new women-only track and field event called the 776 Invitational.

This event will offer the largest purse of any women-only competition in history. Winners will take home $60,000 across all races. Second will earn $25,000 and third $10,000.

“I am excited to partner with forward-thinking organizations like 776 that share our vision for advancing women’s track,” Thomas said at the Business of Women’s Sports Conference in May. “Through this investment, we hope to not only provide athletes with the resources and visibility they need to have enduring careers but also to inspire fans worldwide with a reinvented format to experience the best of our sport.”

Thomas will take part in the 200 meter Olympic final at 3:40 p.m. ET.
